Episode 17: Putting It On the Table

Our holiday break is over, and we’re back! Our topic this week is the deployment phase, and how we put our armies on the table. Reserves, going first or second, and the three standard deployment types are all covered.

In addition, we give a recap of the league we just finished at our local store, Richard talks about the store’s first (non-‘Ard-Boyz) tournament, we talk hobby progress (or the lack thereof), and we give our 40K Christmas wishes.

re: Dawn of War deployment – p.93 is actually very clear about transports, no FAQ needed, just read the example.

For the tourney after the League we had a number of people call to ask about “the tourney the next week.” The word got out, but someone was spreading around the incorrect date.

Well, in one third of standard games (Dawn of War), you won’t have a choice. Admittedly, it’s rough with Monoliths, since they don’t get the option to come from the table edge anymore. Generally, though, unless you’re doing a build based on the Nemersor and/or Deathmarks, reserves doesn’t help your army much.
