Episode 59: The World’s End

The world’s end may be able to keep our show down for a week, but not for good! This week, we’re looking at Apocalypse, and specifically, our first experience with the format. With 8 players, 18 feet of gaming table, and 12,000 points on a side, how did the game scale up from the company-level game we know and love? Was it too much, too little, or just right? And would we do it again? Also, we talk about the impending Space Marine release and what it means for the Black Templars, an army that is ending its life as a stand-alone codex. Is it the end of the world for Templar players, or just a new beginning with a bunch of new toys made available? We also discuss the rumored October black box, and what it might mean for 40K if it turns out to be the skirmish-level game that’s been rumored. Will it be an ongoing thing, or just a Space Hulk-style one-off? Or worse, a Dreadfleet-style one-off? Finally, stay tuned after the main show for two interviews with Mantic Games and Warlord Games, two other companies in the wargaming universe.
